Photos and Camera Access
WildlifeAtlas may request access to the device camera and photo library so users can photograph or upload plants, animals, and other species for identification.
Photos may be processed by third-party artificial-intelligence or image-analysis services to generate identification results. WildlifeAtlas will only request access when needed for app functionality and will not access photos that the user has not selected or captured through the app.
Users should avoid uploading images containing faces, personal documents, precise private-location information, or other sensitive personal information.

WildlifeAtlas may request approximate or precise location access if location-based features are introduced, such as suggesting nearby National Parks, improving identification context, or recording where a species was observed.

Provide species-identification results

Artificial Intelligence and Identification Accuracy
WildlifeAtlas uses AI-assisted tools to provide potential species identifications. Results may be incomplete, incorrect, or uncertain.
Identification results are provided for general educational and informational purposes only. They should not be treated as professional scientific, veterinary, medical, food-safety, wilderness-safety, or emergency advice.
Users must not rely on WildlifeAtlas to determine whether a plant, mushroom, animal, insect, or other species is safe to consume, touch, approach, capture, or handle.
Third-Party Services
WildlifeAtlas may use third-party providers for services such as:
Image recognition and artificial intelligence
Cloud hosting and database storage
Authentication
Analytics
Crash reporting
Subscription and payment processing
These providers may process limited information as necessary to perform their services and may maintain their own privacy policies.
Purchases made through the iOS application are processed by Apple. WildlifeAtlas does not directly receive or store complete payment-card information from App Store purchases.

Data Retention
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, fulfill legitimate business purposes, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
Uploaded photos and identification records may be retained to provide identification history or improve the user experience unless they are deleted by the user or a deletion request is submitted.
Data Security
Reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures are used to protect information. However, no internet-based service or storage system can guarantee absolute security.
User Choices
Users may control camera, photo-library, notification, and location permissions through their device settings.
Users may request access to or deletion of personal information by contacting WildlifeAtlas through the Support page.
Deleting the app does not automatically cancel an active Apple App Store subscription. Subscriptions must be managed through the user’s Apple ID subscription settings.
Children’s Privacy
WildlifeAtlas is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent. If information from a child under 13 is discovered, reasonable steps will be taken to delete it.
